No ‘el clásico’ Champions League final…again.

After Barcelona saw off Bayern Munich 5-3 on aggregate yesterday, many football fans would have been hoping for an ‘el clásico’ final on June 6 in Berlin. This dream final was not to be as ex-Madrid striker Alvaro Morata (oh, the irony) sent Juventus into the final with a 3-2 aggregate victory over Real Madrid.
For the conspiracy theorists, it appears as if UEFA has some sort of an ‘el clásico’ Champions League final agenda of late. In the 2012-2013 edition, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund foiled UEFA’s alleged el clásico plan by defeating Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively, ensuring an all-German final instead. Last season, yet again UEFA’s plan was ruined as Atletico Madrid defeated Barcelona to set up a Madrid derby with Real.
This year, football fans will have to settle for a Juventus v Barcelona final and a mouth-watering Suarez v Chiellini rematch.
